Liposuction or SculpSure?

Understanding How Liposuction Works

liposuction1_cropThe standard procedure for liposuction involves applying a local anesthetic to the target area before breaking up the fat cells with either high-frequency vibrations, a weak laser pulse, or a high-pressure water jet. This high-pressure water jet works through a hollow metal tube that is inserted into the target area through an incision in your skin. Once the surgeon determines that your fat cells are properly broken up, a vacuum attached to the exposed end of the tube will literally suck the fat deposits out of you.

However, because these methods of breaking up the fat cells are inconsistent and involve their own health risks, during the vacuuming process surgeons will often use the hollow metal tube to scrape excess fatty deposits away to be suctioned out. Only then will medical practitioners will stitch and bandage the incision point.

The Risks Involved With Surgery

liposuction_afterwards1The overall procedure takes three hours and does not include the usual overnight hospital stay or the week-long recovery period during which you should expect to need antibiotics and pain killers. It is also recommended to keep the area bandaged for several weeks post-operation with a compression bandage or support-corset. After four to six weeks, you should be able to move about freely.

Results aren’t noticeable until the swelling has gone down and the area has had a chance to settle, which can take up to six months. In addition, by choosing the option of surgery you run the risk of lumpy, uneven results, hematoma, semi-permanent numbness, scarring, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, and damage to nearby internal organs.

Know Your Alternatives

Thanks to today’s ever-evolving technology, however, there are viable alternatives to liposuction. Using a much more holistic approach, new body sculpting and weight loss technology pioneered by medical engineers like CynoSure, combine proven fat-reducing techniques with your body’s natural functions to ensure seamless, lasting results.

SculpSure is a non-invasive, FDA approved, laser-based treatment that utilizes CynoSure’s state of the art, highly sensitive technology. Similar to a stage of liposuction’s pre-op, SculpSure is designed to target and separate fat cells using non-harmful radio waves. Once the fat cells have been broken up, they are registered as “foreign objects” by your body’s immune system, which will then naturally process those fat cells out of your body.

Shorter Treatment Time, Quicker Results

SculpSureBefore the procedure, a weight loss technician will strap the SculpSure applicators to up to four areas of your body that you are seeking treatment for. Then, in a process of roughly 25 to 30 minutes, the light-based technology will work to eliminate excess fatty deposits by disrupting the fat cells underneath the skin. Although the treatments are short, it will be necessary to receive them on a weekly basis for results to be noticeable and long-lasting. Patients have reported seeing results in anywhere from six to twelve weeks without the treatment course disrupting their working or personal life. In addition, unlike liposuction, SculpSure is a non-invasive procedure. This means that no incisions need to be made in the skin for the treatment to be effective, which also helps to greatly reduce downtime.
